Recruitment for PhiDE for our Alpha class was a phenomenal experience simply because a whole semester’s worth of hard work and preparation paid great dividends. When those doors opened in Hendrix and about a 100 people piled in, we knew we had done it. We had spread the word around Clemson about who we were, and PhiDE’s uniqueness among pre-medical organizations had been noticed. Throughout the recruitment we met many students who were committed, brilliant, and most of all, willing to embrace the PhiDE mindset. Our new class is a class with great potential, and they look out to help their fellow peers in this rigorous, stressful journey that we are all a part of. Our new class’s social ability, an attribute in which we take pride in in PhiDE, was outstanding, as they could be approached easily, and conversions flowed without any awkwardness. All of this led into the big/little reveal. Again, we went on “dates” with our prospective candidates and it felt as if we had known them for years; the conversations came naturally. At the next chapter beta class dressed up in various themes (Clemson, doctors, cowboys, pajamas, etc) and our “family” members came wearing the matching costumes. The entire experience was exciting and most of all hilarious because as expected our new class went above and beyond. The atmosphere was great as jokes were being made and chapter was off to a great energetic start; something we look forward to at 8:30 PM.
